5 Recommendations for Games that Train Children's Emotional Intelligence from Psychologists

Dream - Emotional intelligence becomes very important to be taught from an early age to our beloved children. Don't let it be too late or not teach it at all because it will greatly impact the formation of their character in the future.

5 Recommendations for Games that Train Children's Emotional Intelligence from Psychologists

Emotional intelligence or emotional quotient (EQ) is a person's ability to understand, use, and manage emotions. Of course, the ability to recognize and manage emotions cannot be obtained in a short period of time.

Children need to be introduced to various emotions, recognize them, and then be trained to control them. Many people think that the ability to control emotions can only be trained in adults, whereas since early childhood, starting from toddlers to kindergarten, children can already be trained.

"How to do it? Audrey Susantu, a child psychologist, revealed through her post on Instagram @audreytsusanto that it is highly recommended to train early childhood emotional intelligence through games. She also shared simple games at home that have a positive impact on teaching children to recognize and control their emotions."

1. Guess the Expression

"Parents can try to demonstrate basic emotions and then ask the child to guess and encourage the child to tell a story. Ask the child, when have they ever experienced that emotion," said Audrey.

With this game, children and parents can engage in conversations related to the emotions they have experienced. Remind children to channel their emotions well and control them, instead of suppressing them.

2. Gambar Emosi

2. Emotion Pictures

"Use watercolor, ask the child to paint on a piece of colored paper to express certain emotions," Audrey said. This game helps children recognize the emotions they feel in a fun way."

3. Emotional Cards

Another way is by playing emotion cards that are widely sold or maybe made yourself. Prepare a type of card that contains various emotions and ask the child to choose 2 cards that represent their emotions today. Then ask them to tell a story about the emotion they are feeling.

4. Watch Movies Together Several movie recommendations that can help children understand emotions. Invite children to watch movies together such as Inside Out, The Boy The Mole The Fox and The Horse, or Turning Red. 5. Emotion Thermometer This game is to determine the level of emotions felt. Invite children to measure how intense their emotions are, you can try using the question "From 1-10, how happy are you today?". Exciting, isn't it? Source: IG @audreytsusanto
