Dream - Intimate relations carried out by married couples are part of worship. In fact, this activity can bring rewards as long as it is done in accordance with Islamic law. For Dream friends who are already married, it is important to know clearly what is recommended in Islam when it comes to intimate relations. Not to mention the things that are prohibited. With that, this worshipful activity can be done according to the law and of course can bring righteous offspring.
Well, here are some things that are prohibited during intimate relationships as summarized by Dream through various sources.
The following are some things that are prohibited during intimate relationships that need to be observed by every Muslim couple:
When starting to have sexual intercourse, Dream's friend and partner should not forget to pray first. As the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "When one of them is about to have intercourse with his wife, let him say: 'In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep us away from Satan and keep Satan away from what You have bestowed upon us.' For if it is decreed that a child is conceived from their relationship, then Satan will not harm that child forever." (Sahih Muslim No.2591)
When the wife is menstruating, it is forbidden to engage in intimate relations. This has been explained through the word of Allah SWT in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 222: "They ask you about menstruation. Say, 'It is impurity.' So keep away from wives during menstruation and do not approach them until they are pure."
"When they have purified themselves, then mix them in the place that Allah SWT has commanded you. Indeed, Allah SWT loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves." (Al Baqarah: 222)
Islam prohibits its followers from engaging in sexual intercourse or having sexual relations through the rectum or anus. As the Prophet Muhammad once said, "Cursed is the one who has intercourse with his wife through her anus." (Hadith narrated by Abu Dawud and an-Nasa'i from Abu Hurairah)
When engaging in intimate relations, husbands are prohibited from secretly approaching their wives. As the Prophet Muhammad said: "If one of you comes at night, do not approach his wife (without giving prior notice), so that the woman whose husband is away can shave her pubic hair and comb her hair" (HR. Bukhari no. 5246 and Muslim no. 715).
Then, from Jabir bin Abdillah, he said: "The Prophet peace be upon him forbade someone to visit his wife at night to find out whether his wife is being unfaithful to him or to find faults with her." (HR. Muslim no. 715)
"When performing the fasting ritual, whether it is a voluntary fast or an obligatory fast like Ramadan, engaging in sexual intercourse is prohibited in Islam. This activity will invalidate the fast and of course, there is a penalty for those who do it. As explained in the narrations of Bukhari and Muslim. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:"
"Someone came to the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am doomed!' He asked, 'What has happened to you?' The person replied, 'I had sexual intercourse with my wife while fasting (in the month of Ramadan).' So the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, asked, 'Can you find a slave to free?' The person answered, 'No.' He asked, 'Are you able to fast for two consecutive months?' The person replied, 'No.' He asked, 'Can you feed sixty poor people?' The person replied, 'No.' The Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, then said, 'Sit down.'
"Can you get food to feed sixty poor people?" He answered, "No." Then there was an Anshar person who came carrying a large container with dates in it. He said, "Go and give charity with it." The person said, "Is there anyone poorer than me, O Messenger of Allah? By Allah who sent you with the truth, there is no one more needy between two villages than my family." Then he said, "Go and feed your family."
For married couples, Islam prohibits both parties from spreading the secrets of the bedroom to others. As explained in a hadith from Abu Sa'id Al Khudri, the Prophet Muhammad said: "Indeed, among the most despicable people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment is a man who has sexual intercourse with his wife and then spreads the secrets of their bedroom." (HR. Muslim no. 1437).
Shaykh Abu Malik said: "However, if there is a Shar'i benefit, as the wives of the Prophet peace be upon him did by spreading how the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him interacted with his wives, then there is no problem." (Sahih Fiqh Sunnah, 3:189)
"In intimate relations, both husband and wife are allowed to be naked, but they must still be covered by cloth or a blanket. As explained by 'Atabah bin Abdi As-Sulami, when you approach your wife (for sexual intercourse), you should use a cover and not be naked like two donkeys. (HR. Ibnu Majah)"
"Islam strongly prohibits married couples from engaging in sexual intercourse in public places. Dream friends should find a secluded place and ensure that it will not be seen by others. Moreover, Islam has taught its followers to always preserve their modesty."
