"Dream - A post by one of the internet users during a visit to RSCM some time ago has worried many people, especially parents. Specifically, a tweet from the internet user with the account Haru D. Fold, on the X app, wrote "Honestly shocked at RSCM, there are so many kids, thought they were there for treatment, turns out they were on dialysis."."

Many people are curious about that condition, as typically those undergoing dialysis treatment are adults with chronic illnesses. In relation to this, the Chairman of the Central Management of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, SpA(K), provided an explanation.

"Doctor Piprim revealed that Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) indeed has a special dialysis unit for children. This means that all of its patients are children who are experiencing terminal kidney disorders and require hemodialysis treatment, or in layman's terms, blood washing."

"In RSCM there is a special dialysis for children while other hospitals do not have it available, therefore in that special unit there are children who are experiencing terminal kidney disorders," said Piprim as quoted by Liputan6.com.

"It also ensures that there is no increase in cases of kidney failure in children in Indonesia. Kidney failure in children is known to be treated with dialysis."

"Nationally, no significant spike in kidney failure cases has been reported as in the previous year where there were cases of EG/DEG," said Piprim."

The RSCM party, represented by pediatric nephrology consultant doctor Eka Laksmi Hidayati, admitted to being shocked after hearing the news about the viral report of a child patient undergoing dialysis. She also emphasized that there has been no increase in cases.

"So we were quite surprised because there were actually news reports about this, we were asked a lot, even though it seems that we did not experience a spike at the hospital. But upon looking at it, indeed, if we look at the numbers, our patients are quite numerous," said Dr. Eka."

According to Dr. Eka from RSCM data, there are around 60 children undergoing dialysis (kidney replacement therapy aimed at removing metabolic waste or excess body fluid and correcting body acid-base balance) regularly at RSCM. Among them, 30 children are undergoing hemodialysis. Many are referral patients from outside Java.

"Because they also see that there are already references they can send, then many others also sent them. That is what caused the gathering to become large, and it also made the Ministry of Health feel that this service for children's kidneys indeed needs to be disseminated, and this is currently being worked on," said Eka.
