Dream - For married couples, especially those who have been living together for years, certainly have a desire to continue their offspring with the presence of righteous children. Islam teaches that children are not only the successors of the family lineage, but also a trust entrusted by Allah SWT. That trust will be asked for accountability in the afterlife.
Having a pious and righteous child is certainly the hope of every married couple. When the beloved child is born into this world, almost all family members, friends, and relatives will pray for the child to become pious and righteous.
In Islam, having righteous and pious children is very important. A hadith of the Prophet mentions that when a person dies, all their deeds are cut off except for three things, one of which is the prayer of a righteous son or daughter for their parents. Considering the great virtue of having righteous and pious children, every parent should always pray to be blessed with children of noble character. In the Quran, there are several verses that narrate the prayers of the prophets who implore Allah to be granted righteous offspring.
Among them, those prayers are offered by Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Zakariya, and other righteous people. This prayer is often and always offered by Prophet Ibrahim since he was still single. Here is a prayer for a righteous child that Sahabat Dream can offer: "رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ" (Rabbi hablî minasshâlihîn) which means "O my Lord, grant me from the righteous offspring."
The following is a prayer reading to make children pious and become individuals of good character: "رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا" Translation: "Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us leaders of the righteous."
The following is a prayer reading for a righteous child and a person with good character: "Berikut bacaan doa agar anak sholeh dan menjadi pribadi yang berakhlak: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي أَوْلَادِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا وَاحْفَظْهُمْ وَلَا تَضُرَّهُمْ وَارْزُقْنَا بِرَّهُمْ Allâhumma bârik lanâ fî aulâdinâ wa dzurriyyâtinâ wahfadhhum wa lâ tadlurrahum warzuqnâ birrahum" Meaning: "O Allah, bless us in our children and descendants, protect them (from all evil), do not harm them, and grant us their goodness."
"To have a pious child according to Islamic teachings, parents can take several important steps that include spiritual, educational, and behavioral aspects. Here are some ways that can be followed:"
1. Pray to Allah SWT Always pray to Allah SWT to be granted righteous children. Some prayers that can be recited include the prayer of Prophet Ibrahim AS: "O my Lord, grant me (a child) who is among the righteous" (QS. Ash-Shaffat: 100) 2. Choosing a Righteous Partner Choose a righteous life partner because children will learn a lot from the example set by their parents.
3. Giving a Good Name Giving a good name to a child because a name is a prayer. A meaningful name can become hope and prayer for the child's future. 4. Educating with Islamic Values Instilling Islamic values from an early age, including teaching the child to know Allah, to read the Quran, and to perform worship such as prayer.
Parents must be a good example in all aspects of life, both in terms of worship, morals, and social interactions.
6. Providing Strong Religious Education Teaching religious knowledge in depth, both through formal education in Islamic schools and informal education at home. 7. Building an Islamic Environment Creating an environment that supports the formation of Islamic character, such as associating with good family and friends and avoiding negative environments.
8. Praying for Children RegularlyAlways praying for the goodness and blessings for children in every opportunity, especially in moments that are considered effective, such as after prayers and during the last third of the night.9. Teaching Good Ethics and MoralsTeaching good manners and morals according to Islamic teachings, including respecting parents, being honest, patient, and responsible.
10. Increasing Reading the Quran and Practicing it Getting children accustomed to reading the Quran, memorizing it, and practicing its teachings in their daily lives. By implementing these steps, God willing, parents can guide their children to become righteous individuals, who will bring goodness to themselves, their families, and the wider community.
Through this prayer, God willing, peace and the quarrel that occurs will soon find a solution.
