Dream - Syawal month is a month full of joy because Muslims celebrate the victory day after fasting for Ramadan for a month. Although the fasting worship is over, there are still many deeds that can bring rewards in this Syawal month. One of the popular deeds in Syawal month is fasting for 6 days. Besides that deed, there are still other recommended deeds in Syawal month. What are they? Just read the following complete review as summarized by Dream from various sources.
The practice in the month of Shawwal is an effort for Muslims to maintain their spirit in worship and doing good deeds. Because even though Ramadan has ended, the spirit to perform worship and do good deeds must continue to be ignited. Allah SWT said in the Quran, Surah Al-Insyirah verses 7 to 8, which means: "So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct [your] longing."
The recommended practice in the month of Syawal is to strengthen relationships or engage in halal bihalal activities. The month of Syawal is the perfect moment to strengthen the bond of silaturahmi. After the Idul Fitri prayer, Muslims usually visit their relatives to engage in silaturahmi, exchange greetings, pray for each other, and seek forgiveness from one another.
"Rasullullah SAW, through his saying from the noble companion Abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu 'Anhu, said: "Whoever wants his sustenance to be expanded and his lifespan to be prolonged, should maintain good relations with his relatives." (HR. Bukhari)"
Fasting in the month of Shawwal is indeed more preferable to be done consecutively. However, according to some scholars, fasting in Shawwal can be done at any time during the month of Shawwal, except on prohibited fasting days. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highly recommended this practice because of its extraordinary virtues.
In the past Ramadhan, there might have been missed moments of worship, such as itikaf or reading the Quran, and some may not have fasted due to obstacles. The obligatory fast of Ramadhan must be made up, but what about voluntary acts of worship like itikaf? The Prophet once made up for missed itikaf in the month of Syawal.
Apart from i'tikaf, other voluntary acts of worship can also be substituted in the month of Shawwal. For example, in a narration in Sunan an-Nasai, there was a companion who used to fast in the middle or early days of the month of Sha'ban, but he missed those fasts. The Prophet allowed him to make up for them in the month of Shawwal.
Nabi SAW often fasted on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each Hijri month, known as the Ayyamul bidh fasts. This is because during these three days, the full moon is bright. It is recommended to fast on these three middle days of each month, including in the month of Syawal. If one feels that there are too many fasts, they can combine the intention of these voluntary fasts with the voluntary fasts of Syawal or the Monday-Thursday fasts.
As mentioned in the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim, Aisyah RA stated that the Prophet married her in the month of Shawwal. For those who are ready to get married, following the Prophet's footsteps is also a way to follow his teachings. In many places, many Muslim communities hold weddings in the month of Shawwal, as an effort to emulate the Prophet's sunnah. However, it is important to remember that this only applies to those who are ready and able to get married.
