Dream - Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, highlights the development of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan during the 2024 Presidential Election debate at the General Election Commission (KPU) on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
Initially, Ganjar Pranowo asked about Anies who had served as the Governor of DKI Jakarta, where Jakarta was still struggling with traffic jams, pollution, and others. Ganjar then asked Anies how it would be if the capital city wanted to be moved to IKN. Anies stated that if Jakarta still had problems, it should not be abandoned. But it should be resolved.
"Jakarta still has environmental problems, traffic congestion, population density, if left unattended, it will not be resolved. Instead, it must be resolved. If we look at traffic congestion, the contribution of civil servants is only 4-7% so it does not reduce congestion, secondly, the environment, if the government officials move their family business here, then there are still problems."
