"Regarding this finding, BPOM has halted production and circulation activities," wrote BPOM in its official statement, Wednesday, July 24, 2024. As a follow-up, BPOM also conducted sampling and testing in the laboratory. The test results for the Okko bread samples from the production and circulation facilities showed the presence of Sodium Dehydroacetate that did not match the composition at the time of product registration."

"In response to this finding, BPOM has ordered the producer of Okko bread to withdraw the product from circulation, destroy it, and report the results to BPOM," said BPOM. BPOM, through its technical implementation unit (UPT) in the region, also ensures that it will oversee the process of withdrawing and destroying Okko bread products."

"Meanwhile, for the Aoka bread products produced by PT Indonesia Bakery Family Bandung, BPOM did not find the BTP in the form of Sodium Dehydroacetate as has recently been rumored. On June 28, 2024, BPOM took samples of Aoka bread products from circulation and conducted testing."

"The test results indicate that the product does not contain sodium dehydroacetate," said BPOM. BPOM emphasized that it will continue to conduct comprehensive food product supervision. This includes monitoring before the product is released, also known as pre-market, as well as supervision after the product is released or post-market, to ensure the safety of the products consumed by the public."
