Select "Everyone" for everyone to be able to see your last seen and online status. Select "My contacts" means only people in your contact list can see your last seen and online status. Select "My contacts except..." can be used if you want to exclude some contacts from seeing your last seen and online status. Select "Nobody" is used to hide your last seen and online status from everyone. There is a note in this privacy feature. If you hide other people's last seen and online status, it means you also cannot see their last seen and online status.

To hide status updates or what was previously known as WhatsApp status, follow these steps: Open the WhatsApp application and go to the "Updates" tab. Click on the three-dot icon in the Status section, then select "Status privacy". Choose one of the following options: "My contacts" means that all contacts on your phone can see your status updates. "My contacts, except..." means that some contacts are excluded from seeing your status updates. "Only share with..." means that only the contacts you choose can see your status updates.

It should be noted that changing privacy settings will not affect status updates that you have previously shared. If you disable the blue checkmark, you will also not be able to see who has viewed your status updates. Similarly, if someone else disables read receipts, you will not be able to know if they have viewed your status updates.
