In its decision, the Supreme Court stated that Article 4 paragraph (1) letter d of the General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Fourth Amendment to PKPU Number 3 of 2017 concerning the Nomination of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, and/or Mayors and Deputy Mayors is contrary to the legislation Number 10 of 2016. The Supreme Court amended the provision of the minimum age requirement for governor candidates in the Regional Elections, which originally had a minimum age of 30 years from the date of candidate determination, to the date of candidate inauguration.

According to the Supreme Court, Article 4 of PKPU Number 9 of 2020 does not have legal binding power as long as it is not interpreted by the candidate governor who is 30 years old starting from the determination of the candidate pair.
