"Dream - seeking forgiveness and repentance may be considered by most Muslims as the same thing. However, in reality, there is a clear difference between seeking forgiveness and repentance. In the Quran and hadith, the word 'istighfar' on its own means repentance. But, when seeking forgiveness and repentance are mentioned in the same sentence, there is a distinction between seeking forgiveness and repentance itself. Where seeking forgiveness is asking Allah SWT for forgiveness to be protected from sins. Meanwhile, repentance is returning to Allah SWT to be kept away from mistakes and sins that may come."

"By reciting istighfar, sins can be forgiven and rewards will increase. The benefits of reciting istighfar include cleansing the heart and soul, purifying oneself, and drawing closer to Allah. The wisdom of reciting istighfar is that humans are weak creatures who often make mistakes, but Allah always opens the door of forgiveness for His servants who are willing to repent. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:"

"Demi Dzat yang jiwaku berada di tanganNya, sungguh aku meminta ampun kepada Allah dan bertaubat setiap hari lebih dari tujuh puluh kali." This shows how important istighfar is in the life of a Muslim. By reciting istighfar, one can be spared from the punishment of Allah, receive His forgiveness, and attain tranquility and blessings in life.

From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the virtues and benefits of reading istighfar are very significant and important in the life of a Muslim. Through istighfar, a person can improve their relationship with Allah, cleanse themselves of sins, and obtain blessings in their life.

"Repentance also involves the acknowledgment of sins, deep remorse, and the intention to improve oneself. Sincere repentance is repentance that is done earnestly, sincerely, and wholeheartedly without any intention to repeat the sin. The meaning of repentance itself is the process of seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT for the sins that have been committed. Imam Al Ghazali stated that repentance is the key to success in this world and the hereafter."

Cara tobat yang dapat dilakukan termasuk mengakui dosa, menyesali dosa tersebut, bersungguh-sungguh bertekad untuk tidak mengulangi dosa tersebut, melakukan perbuatan baik sebagai ganti dari perbuatan buruk, dan memohon ampun kepada Allah. Dengan melakukan tobat, seseorang dapat membersihkan hati dan jiwa serta mendapatkan kedamaian dan keberkahan dalam hidupnya. Tobat merupakan bentuk kasih sayang Allah kepada hamba-Nya yang ingin menyelamatkan mereka dari kesesatan.

"Repentance is the process of acknowledging sins, feeling remorse, and having the intention not to repeat those sins in the future. Meanwhile, seeking forgiveness (istighfar) is the process of asking for pardon from Allah and requesting forgiveness for the sins that have been committed. The difference between the two lies in their focus and process. Repentance is more focused on the intention and effort to change inwardly, while seeking forgiveness is more focused on the request for pardon and acknowledgment of mistakes."

As explained in the Qur'an, Surah An-Nasr, verses 1-3, which reads: "When the help of Allah has come and victory, and you see the people entering the religion of Allah in multitudes, then glorify your Lord with praise and ask for His forgiveness. Indeed, He is the Most Forgiving." Thus, although repentance and seeking forgiveness are often used interchangeably, they have important differences in their concepts and processes.
