NASA's spacecraft named Psyche is equipped with a device capable of transmitting laser signals over long distances. This device is known as Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC).

Based on official information from the NASA website, the spacecraft traveled to a metal-rich asteroid that orbits the Sun between Mars and Jupiter, with the aim of understanding its composition. DSOC is a system consisting of airborne laser transmitters, ground-based laser transmitters, and ground-based laser receivers that use lasers for high-speed communication and test laser communication over distances exceeding the distance between Earth and the Moon. In the early hours of November 14, this demonstration successfully obtained the 'first light'.

"Psyche Mission can provide new information to mankind about planet formation while testing technologies that can be used in future NASA missions," said Bill Nelson, Administrator of NASA.
