"Jakarta will become a special autonomous region. This province will have a provincial capital designated by government regulation. After retiring as the national capital, Jakarta will become a national economic center, a global city, and an agglomeration area. This is stated in Article 3 paragraph (2) of the DKJ Bill."

Governor and vice governor of DKJ will serve for five years. After that, they can be reappointed for one more term of five years. Other provisions regarding the election of governor and vice governor of DKJ will be regulated in government regulations.

The text translates to: "Those regions will be led by mayors and regents selected by the governor. Unlike the rules in the Jakarta Special Capital Region Law, the selection of administrative regional heads in the Jakarta Capital Region does not require consideration from the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD). 'Mayors/Regents as referred to in paragraph (2) are appointed and dismissed by the Governor,' stated article 13 paragraph (3) of the Jakarta Capital Region Draft Law."
