In the cemetery complex, Ganjar, accompanied by Gus Kikin and Yenny Wahid, recited Surah Al-Fatihah, tahlil, and prayers."

Ganjar said that the visit to Jombang is in the context of fostering relationships with religious leaders and the community.

“Every time I visit Gus Dur's grave, I always remember the late Gus Dur. From him, we are taught how to tolerate and appreciate one another. What we remember from him is the spirit of pluralism,” said Ganjar. The former Governor of Central Java stated that it is that spirit that he carries in the 2024 presidential election contest.

“His (Gus Dur) contributions are highly respected elsewhere. That is because of what he has fought for this nation, the spirit of maintaining peace, equality that must be built together,” he said. From Ponpes Tebuireng, Ganjar went to Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang to pay respects at Mbah Wahab's grave.

"Ganjar continued his journey to the Mambaul Ma’arif Denanyar Jombang Islamic boarding school to visit the grave of KH Bisri Syansuri. After that, Ganjar continued his agenda by attending a gathering with the village kyais at the Hamalatul Tahfid boarding school, Jogoroto, Jombang."
