Dream - Jemaah Aolia in Panggang District, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, started fasting since Thursday, March 7, 2024. They believe that Wednesday night has entered the month of Ramadan 1445 Hijriyah, so they have already performed the first tarawih.
The leader of the Aolia congregation, Kiai Ibnu Hajar Sholeh Pranolo or Mbah Benu, stated that the initial determination of the Ramadan fasting month is in accordance with the spiritual guidance he received.

According to him, the difference in determining the start of Ramadan fasting is not a problem. It is up to each person's belief. "The government and Muhammadiyah can start whenever they want," he said.
Like in previous years, the Aolia congregation is fasting for Ramadan earlier. The Aolia congregation itself is estimated not only to be located in Gunungkidul, but also spread across Central Java.
According to the confession of the Aolia congregation, their beliefs do not deviate from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. They still adhere firmly to the teachings of Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah along with the Khulafaur Rasyidin after the death of the Prophet Muhammad. Previously, Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Ramadan will fall on Monday, March 11, 2024. The initial determination of Ramadan is based on the Hisab Wujudul Hilal Hakiki method. Meanwhile, the government will hold a meeting to confirm the initial determination of Ramadan 2024 on Sunday, March 10.
However, according to the Indonesian Hijri Calendar 2024 published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia, 1 Ramadan 1445 H/2024 is predicted to fall on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The initial determination of fasting by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) often coincides with the government. The Chairman of the Falakiyah Institute of the Nahdlatul Ulama (LF PBNU), KH Sirril Wafat, also predicts that 1 Ramadhan 1445 H/2024 will fall on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
