Dream - Former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), responded to the testimony in the trial of alleged extortion and gratification in the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) which stated that he had once requested to be sent durian worth up to Rp46 million.

SYL asserts that his family does not like durian and does not allow the fruit to enter his official residence in Widya Chandra. Therefore, he admits that it is impossible for him to ask for durian, even worth up to IDR 46 million.

"Previously, the Witness who was a former Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture's Quarantine Agency, Wisnu Haryana, admitted that he was asked by his former superior, SYL, through his assistant Panji, to buy musang king durian using Ministry of Agriculture's funds. Not only that, the price that the Ministry of Agriculture had to bear to buy the durian reached Rp46 million."

The request for SYL to buy the musang king durian was revealed in the ongoing trial for alleged extortion and gratification involving former Minister of Agriculture SYL, in the courtroom of the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, May 20, 2024.

The request started when the KPK prosecutor confirmed the purchase of durian from Witness Wahyu Haryana. Wahyu confirmed and then detailed by the KPK prosecutor. "Have you ever given or bought money used to purchase durian?" asked the Prosecutor. "Yes, I have," answered Wisnu.

"What kind of durian is this?" asked Jaksa. "It's musang king durian," replied Wisnu."
