Dream - Besides sleeping, enjoying entertainment such as listening to music or watching movies becomes the choice of travelers when traveling by airplane.
Taking or removing personal headphones becomes the main activity after landing the body on the airplane seat. But apparently, an aircraft expert revealed that using headphones during a flight can cause some safety issues. How is that possible?
The problem can arise when passengers choose to directly use headphones and do not listen to safety instructions in their entirety when the aircraft is about to take off. Passengers who refuse to remove their headphones will be fined. Not just any fine, but a fine of £5,000 equivalent to IDR 94 million.
Although the safety instructions given by the flight attendants are considered repetitive, the Civil Aviation Authority of England states that non-compliance with safety or security instructions, including disruptive behavior, is not allowed.
"Most of us immediately grab our headphones when we are on the plane," said Operational Manager Dan Jones via FlyDays.co.uk. "It is important for every flight that passengers listen to safety instructions before enjoying entertainment during the flight," he added.
"In addition, a travel expert also revealed why passengers should not use Airpods, or other in-ear headphones, during flights. TikTok user Adventure Buddies @theadventurebuddies claimed that AirPods are very easy to lose or damage during flights."
On the contrary, they recommend the use of over-ear headphones, which according to them offer several advantages, including noise-canceling features and comfort. These smart devices make passengers no longer have to rely on airplane headphones to watch movies.
Meanwhile, passengers who are found drunk during air travel will be fined up to £5,000 or equivalent to IDR 94 million and imprisoned for up to two years. If their behavior significantly disrupts the flight and necessitates diverting attention, they will be subject to a fine of up to £80,000 or around IDR 1.3 billion.
