Merneith is recognized as the first female pharaoh and the first queen to rule independently in history."

The translation of "'Firaun' Wanita Pertama" to English is "'First Female Pharaoh'".

It is estimated that Merneith ruled around 290 BC. Her name, which means "Beloved of Neith," reflects the symbols associated with the ancient Egyptian goddess Neith on inscriptions. Merneith is suspected to be the daughter of Djer and the senior wife of Djer. As the daughter of Djer, she is considered the granddaughter of Narmer, the first pharaoh to unite Egypt. Merneith is also known as the mother of Den, the ruler who succeeded her.
