Starting from July 22, 1972, Darmo Hadipranoto and his wife began making Campina ice cream in their garage located on Gembong Sawah Street, Surabaya. At that time, they also established CV Pranoto.

The method of selling Campina is diverse, ranging from using bicycles, freezers, to vans. In order to strengthen the company's competitiveness, in 1994, the Sabana Prawirawidjaja family, the owner of PT Ultrajaya Milk Industry, also participated in share ownership. As a result, the company's name changed to PT Campina Ice Cream Industry.

Ice cream Campina innovates with various collaborations, one of which is with Nickelodeon, which makes it the only holder of the 'Spongebob' and 'Avatar' ice cream product licenses in Southeast Asia.

Campina has products that are suitable for its segments. For the children's segment: Fantasy, Didi Cup, Blue Jack. For the teenage segment: Concerto and Tropicana. For the adult segment: Bazooka, Hula-Hula. And for the family segment: Family pack with various flavors and sizes. For special events, they provide ice cream cake.

The latest innovation from Campina is the introduction of 'LuVe Litee' ice cream, which is the first low-fat and 100 percent non-dairy ice cream in Indonesia. 'LuVe Litee' product can be a choice for consumers who are on a diet, follow a vegan lifestyle, and have lactose intolerance.

In its campaign, Campina also cares about reducing global warming. Some examples of activities that have been done are planting 1000 trees in Banda Aceh and having a Roof Top Organic Garden in the factory area, and processing waste into compost.
