Dream - Debit cards that are swallowed by Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) continue to be a common problem experienced by the community. According to the official website of Bank Central Asia (BCA), debit cards can be swallowed due to delays in withdrawing the card after completing transactions at the ATM. Consequently, the left-behind card will be automatically swallowed after a certain period of time.

"If the card is swallowed during a transaction at an ATM machine that is near or located in a bank branch, you can immediately report it to the officer at the bank branch," BCA wrote. However, what if the card is swallowed during a transaction through an ATM machine that is far from the bank branch?"

1. First, do not panic and stay calm. Immediately call the official call center of the ATM card issuing bank. Make sure the number is correct to avoid fraud. 2. Report the ATM card that has been swallowed within a maximum period of 1 x 24 hours to block the ATM card immediately. The goal is to prevent the ATM card from being misused by certain individuals.

3. Record the location and address of the ATM machine where the ATM card is swallowed. 4. Also record the time of blocking the ATM card and the name of the bank officer who handles the blocking of the ATM card. The purpose is to be alert if any financial transactions are found after the blocking request.

5. If you do not immediately contact the issuing bank of the ATM card, all transactions that occur after the ATM card is swallowed or lost will be the responsibility of the cardholder. 6. Make a report of loss from the authorities to be prepared in case the issuing bank of the ATM card requires it. 7. Lastly, request a new ATM card at the nearest branch office of the bank, bringing the necessary requirements and documents.
