Dream - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that the budget for the proposed free nutritious meal program by Prabowo Subianto will be prepared gradually. The initial budget will start with a value of Rp20 trillion.
"Our numbers start at around Rp20 trillion, and gradually, as we go along,""
Luhut said as quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, June 21, 2024.
"In that opportunity, Luhut also denied the inability of the state budget to bear the cost of the free nutritious meal program, formerly known as free lunch."
Luhut said, based on the scenario calculated by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, with a budget deficit of only 2.5 percent, Indonesia can allocate Rp612 trillion to complete the construction of the Sumatra toll road. Then, to complete the construction of the National Capital (IKN), as well as to implement the free nutritious meal program.
"So I think it's good, people are afraid that our budget won't be enough, actually it's gradual, there's no problem,"
"ujar Luhut" translates to "said Luhut."
Menko Luhut advised the public not to worry. He ensured that Indonesia's budget will be fine, as long as it can reduce budget leaks, one of which is by digitizing.
"With digitalization, we can significantly reduce the previous leakage, so we can improve again,"
kata Luhut.
Luhut appreciates the nutritious meal program because he believes that many children in Indonesia never eat meat or eggs. Through this program, Luhut hopes that Indonesian children can enjoy nutritious food. "And that program (nutritious meal) is implemented in 93 countries, not something strange. I think this is very good," said Luhut.
Besides appreciating how the program provides opportunities for the nation's children to access meat and eggs, Luhut also appreciates the menu that changes every day and uses English language. "For example, today your meal eggs, rice, this uses English language. So it's a lesson within one program," said Luhut.
