Dream - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Suharso Monoarfa, clarified the discourse on online gambling family receiving Social Assistance (Bansos) for families of online gambling victims. According to Suharso, families who become victims of online gambling behavior may be eligible to receive Bansos as long as they meet the requirements set by the government in the program.

The statement by Suharso responds to the statement of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, who said that the families of victims who suffered losses due to online gambling are still entitled to receive social assistance, as long as they meet the requirements. "But his intentions are surely good. Maybe it was just misunderstood," said Suharso quoted from Liputan6.com, Jakarta, Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Suharso explained that the indicator of meeting the requirements for the recipients of social assistance (Bansos) will also be improved in the social-economic registration data (Regsosek). This Regsosek data can later be used to analyze the condition of the house and household members to ensure that the assistance needed is in accordance with their needs.

"Previously, Chairman of the Online Gambling Task Force (Satgas) Hadi Tjahjanto revealed that two percent or 80 thousand of the total online gambling players in Indonesia are actually children under 10 years old. 'The victims in society, according to demographic data of online gambling players, are 2 percent of players who are under 10 years old. So, there are a total of 80 thousand detected,' said Hadi during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs office on Wednesday (19/6/2024)."

Next, there are 11 percent of online gambling players in the age range of 10-20 years. The number is approximately 440 thousand people. Meanwhile, 13 percent are recorded as those aged 21-30 years with a total of 520 thousand. The most detected online gambling players are people aged 30-50 years, amounting to 40 percent or a total of 1,640,000. The remaining 34 percent or 1,350,000 people are those aged over 50 years.

"While, for the upper middle class, it ranges from Rp10,000 to Rp40 billion. 'This is on average the lower middle class, which accounts for 80 percent of the total players, 2.37 million,' he said. 'According to data, for the cluster of transaction denominations in the upper middle class, it ranges from Rp100,000 to Rp40 billion,' said Hadi."

Hadi Tjahjanto, who also serves as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, revealed that the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force has expanded its three tasks that will be carried out in the near future. First, the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) will freeze online gambling transaction accounts.

Referring to the report from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), there are 4-5 thousand suspicious accounts that have been blocked. As a follow-up, PPATK will immediately report to the investigator of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri). Once reported, the Bareskrim investigator will freeze the account and have 30 days to announce the freezing of the account.

"After 30 days, the police will be able to call the account owner and conduct further investigation and legal proceedings to confirm that they are indeed the owners and they are the dealers," said Hadi.
