Dream - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin conveys his firm stance regarding the discourse on providing Social Assistance (Bansos) for families who have become victims of online gambling. Ma'ruf asserts that beneficiaries who are found to be involved in online gambling may have their rights revoked from the government program. According to the Vice President, this measure is an effort to deter the perpetrators.

Regarding the possibility of recipients of social assistance using the funds for online gambling, the Vice President proposed that their rights as beneficiaries be revoked. Not only online gambling, but strict measures should also be taken for other types of gambling. "But if, on the contrary, if there are recipients of social assistance using it for online gambling or other gambling, just revoke it. If recipients of social assistance use it for gambling, then revoke it. That is my suggestion," he emphasized.

Previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has confirmed that there is no social assistance (bansos) for victims of online gambling or online activities. "There is none," said Jokowi, during his visit to pump installation in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday (19/6/2024), quoted from Antara. Regarding the plan related to bansos policy for the target group, he also stated that there is none. "There is none," he said.

"Previously, Jokowi emphasized that the government is serious in eradicating and combating online gambling, which until now millions of gambling sites have been closed and the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force will soon be formed. "The government also continues to seriously eradicate and combat online gambling. And until now, more than 2.1 million online gambling sites have been closed and the Online Gambling Task Force will also be formed soon, which we hope will accelerate the eradication of online gambling," said Jokowi."

The President stated that online gambling is cross-border, boundary, and authorization, so the most important defense must come from the community itself. "It is better if the money fortune is saved or used as capital for business. Gambling is not just about risking money, not just a mere game or a prize game, but gambling risks the future, both one's own future, the future of the family, and the future of our children," he said.
