Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) encourages the public to use public transportation in order to reduce the traffic congestion that occurs in many major cities in Indonesia.
Jokowi delivered the suggestion while inaugurating Terminal Samarinda Seberang in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
"If we look at the traffic from city to city anywhere now, including what I see in Samarinda, in Balikpapan, in Banjarmasin. Therefore, we must further encourage mass transportation, public transportation so that the use of private vehicles continues to decrease."

According to Jokowi, traffic congestion in the capital city has been occurring for years, even though Jakarta has various mass transportation facilities such as electric trains (KRL), Integrated Railways (LRT), Integrated Transportation Modes (MRT), and TransJakarta.
"Thus, cities other than Jakarta must prepare themselves for the importance of public transportation, the importance of mass transportation," he added.
"He feels happy with the development of the Samarinda Seberang Terminal. The terminal, which was previously dirty, messy, and unorganized, has now transformed into a clean, tidy, and well-organized terminal."
"We hope this will encourage people to flock to using public transportation," he said.
"From here, you can go to Balikpapan, from here you can go to Banjarmasin, I think it would be very good to use public transportation and not use private transportation. This is once again to reduce congestion in all the cities that we have."
