Dream - Unexpected theft happened to residents in London, owner of Hyundai Ioniq 5. This advanced car from South Korea was successfully broken into by thieves in just 20 seconds.
Quoting The Guardian, this chronology starts with a car owner named Steve Jessop who parked his car on the side of the road near his house.
Realizing that his car was no longer there, Steve immediately searched for CCTV footage and was shocked to see how easily his car was taken away. Someone wearing a hood or hoodie was seen in the CCTV, effortlessly opening the door, starting the engine, and leaving in just 20 seconds.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any HTML tags: "The key to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 owned by Steve is still inside his house. And there are no signs of anyone entering his house. "It's truly amazing," said Jessop. "I saw it and thought: how could that happen? I really thought that with all the technology in this car, no one could steal it," Jessop continued."
Steve, who immediately reported this case to the police, did not receive any further clues. He filed a report on the night of the theft on February 8th and was informed via email the next day during lunch that the case had been closed.
With all the sophistication possessed by his car, Steve was amazed at how his car could be stolen. Sources from the automotive industry who spoke with Observer last week were apparently not too surprised by the theft. They revealed that high-tech devices disguised as gaming devices were traded online for thousands of pounds.
This tool is used by criminal gangs to replicate electronic keys on the Ioniq 5, which can unlock doors and start the engine.
The device known as an "emulator" works by intercepting signals from the car and scanning for the presence of a valid key, then sending back those signals to gain access to the vehicle.
Many Ioniq 5 owners, who are called using the steering wheel key to prevent theft. Hyundai said they are looking for measures to prevent the use of the emulator. However, Hyundai is not the only car manufacturer whose vehicles appear vulnerable. Observer's investigation found that models from Toyota, Lexus, and Kia are also targeted.
