"Dream - A South Korean underwear company, Ssangbangwool, will provide a cash reward worth US$75,000 or around Rp1.17 billion for employees who are willing to have three children. This policy is made to help increase the declining birth rate in the country."
According to Business Insider, as reported by The Korea Herald, the company will provide bonuses based on the number of children born. For the first and second child, a bonus of US$22,400 each will be given, while for the third child, $30,000 will be given.
"The low birth rate is an important task for our society to overcome. The company will be responsible and make every effort to help this country improve its fertility rate."
"spokesperson said the company."
The following is the translation of the 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "This announcement comes after Booyoung Group, a construction company based in Seoul, stated earlier this month that it will provide a bonus of 75,000 won per child to employees who have babies."
Booyoung Group provides the bonus to employees who have children since 2021. According to CNN report, the company's employees collectively have at least 70 children since 2021, so the company is ready to give cash amounting to US$ 5.25 million to its employees. Both men and women can claim the bonus.
"Like in China and Japan, the aging and increasingly unbalanced population of South Korea is considered to cause a surge in elderly retirees who require medical care, while the number of young workers in this country is decreasing."
The fertility rate in South Korea is 0.78 in 2022. Meanwhile, the birth rate in Seoul is lower, which is 0.59 in that year, according to government statistics.
The Ginseng country still needs a very high birth rate, which is 2.1, in order to maintain its current population.
President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol on February 13 instructed his government to develop tax incentives and subsidies for companies that encourage their employees to have children. In Seoul, the city government provides $750 per month to parents who have children until their baby reaches one year old.
