Quoting freemalaysiatoday, the four potential candidates being considered are Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar, and President Director of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Royke Tumilaar.

Prabowo will not involve the position of the Minister of Finance in political bargaining, because he sees that position requires sharpness in managing the budget.

The new Minister of Finance will replace Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the only woman ever appointed to hold that position since Indonesia's independence in 1945.

However, whoever occupies the position of Minister of Finance is considered to have a great responsibility to help Prabowo steer Indonesia towards becoming the largest economy in Southeast Asia amidst the geopolitical risks and supply chain disruptions arising from the competition between the United States (US) and China.
