Dream - Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Teten Masduki proposed a postponement of the mandatory halal certificate provision for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). "It's good if it's postponed, it will definitely be until October, I requested the postponement," said Teten Masduki quoted from Merdeka.com, Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Referring to the schedule set by the government, halal certificates for food and beverages products will become mandatory starting from October 17, 2024.
Teten is worried that the government's specified time limit will prevent many UMKM from being able to obtain halal certificates within the given time frame. Especially since there are many business players in the food and beverage industry.
clearly Teten quoted from Merdeka.com, Saturday, March 9, 2024.
According to Teten, if we want to require business actors to have halal certificates, it must go through a careful calculation process first. He also suggests two pathways to facilitate UMKM entrepreneurs in obtaining halal certification.
The first route is the provision of halal certificates with self-declaration for products whose raw materials have been ensured to be halal.
"That should not be spoken again, it's just a self-declaration," he asserted.
The second track is that the government must calculate the capability of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) to be able to provide the correct halal certificate so that applicants do not have to revise too often.
Before submitting a claim, understand and fulfill all the requirements set by the sharia insurance company.
