"Dream - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto speaks up about the news of free lunch financing that will use the School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds."
Airlangga said the government will conduct further study regarding the use of BOS funds for financing the free lunch program.
However, this is done if the free lunch simulation has been widely implemented in various regions of Indonesia. "We will formulate the plan later (BOS funds), if the simulation (free lunch) has been widely implemented," said Airlangga to the media quoted from Merdeka.com, Thursday, March 7, 2024.
As information, BOS funds are educational assistance provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Deputy of Food and Agribusiness Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Dida Gardera, also stated that the government has not yet decided on the funding source to finance the free lunch program owned by Prabowo-Gibran until now.
Meanwhile, various issues that are developing in society, according to Dida, are still in the form of proposals. "From the government's side, it hasn't been decided yet, it's still just possible discussions that the budget could come from there, we haven't studied it yet," said Dida.
Dida emphasized that the cost of the free lunch simulation at SMP Negeri 2 Curug, Tangerang Regency, some time ago, came from each regional government acting as volunteers or volunteers.
"Well, that is the initiative of Mr. Regent (Tangerang Regency). So, this is still under the government, not like that," said Dida. Dida said that the amount of free lunch budget of Rp15,000 per child is still possible to change. This is adjusted to the economic conditions in each diverse region."
"Coincidentally there (Tangerang Regency) Rp15,000-ish might make sense, but in IKN it's different," said Dida.
Regarding the plan, the Education and Teacher Association (P2G) asked the government to ensure that the implementation of the free lunch program in the future does not use education budget, including the BOS fund. "P2G strongly opposes if the plan to provide free lunch policy uses the BOS fund," said the Head of P2G's Advocacy Department, Iman Zanatul Haeri.
