Dream - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2024, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) together with stakeholders have implemented homecoming travel regulations to prevent vehicles. One of them is the time restriction for using rest areas during the maximum 30 minutes of homecoming holidays.
This restriction is implemented to anticipate the occurrence of vehicle congestion queuing to enter. It is common for vehicle congestion to occur at this resting place, which will affect the smooth flow of traffic on the toll road.
"So the maximum recommendation is 30 minutes, because it will be alternated with others to avoid accumulation, especially in the rest area that serves as a buffer zone,"
The text translates to: "words of the Director of Law Enforcement (Dirgakum) of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Raden Slamet S quoted from Merdeka.com, Saturday, March 9, 2024."
Slamet hopes that the recommendation to use the rest area for 30 minutes can be disseminated by the media so that the community intending to travel home already understands the restrictions.
As for the technicalities of restricting the use of the rest area, it is done by placing officers at the entrance and exit. "There will be a counter at the entrance-exit. There will be officers later," said Slamet.
Polri predicts that the number of people traveling back and forth and going on vacation during Eid al-Fitr 2024 will increase by around 5 to 6 percent compared to 2023.
It is estimated that there are 136.7 million movements, with 26 percent moving towards Central Java, 19 percent towards East Java, and 16 percent towards West Java.
To ensure the movement of the community during the homecoming holiday, which is predicted to peak on April 5th and the return flow on April 15th, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) together with relevant ministries and institutions are preparing various measures. These include traffic engineering arrangements on toll roads and main roads, the implementation of travel delays at ports, and buffer zones in rest areas near crossing routes.
This preparation was discussed in a coordination meeting on the readiness of traffic arrangements for the 2024 Eid homecoming and return period, held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, by the Traffic Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (Korlantas Polri) along with relevant agencies.
