Dream - Astra International Peugeot has ceased its sales activities in Indonesia. Hi, this marks the end of the journey of the French car brand in the Indonesian automotive market.
The official decision was announced on Thursday, April 2, 2024, causing surprise among car enthusiasts in Indonesia. As quoted from Liputan6.com, Rokky Irvayandi, Chief Executive of Astra Peugeot, explained that this decision was based on information from Stellantis, the holder of the Peugeot brand.
Stellantis has made a strategic decision to stop the sales of Peugeot in Indonesia as part of their business growth strategy in the ASEAN region. Although this news is surprising, Astra International appreciates this decision. The company ensures that aftersales services for Peugeot car owners in Indonesia will continue to operate as usual.
Before deciding to stop its sales in Indonesia, Peugeot car sales in the country have experienced a significant decline. Since 2023, the delivery of Peugeot cars has been slowing down, with only 199 units being shipped in that year. However, in 2022, Astra Peugeot managed to increase its sales to 451 units, twice as much as the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2024, the decline in sales is more drastic, with only 28 units sold. This figure marks a decrease of 67.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
The decision to stop the sale of Peugeot in Indonesia is a strategic step taken by Stellantis as part of their business growth plan in the ASEAN region. Although this ends Peugeot's presence in the Indonesian market, the continued aftersales service shows a commitment to support existing Peugeot car owners in the country. Source: Liputan6.com.
