Dream - The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) revealed the benefits as well as the losses related to the weakening and plummeting exchange rate of the Indonesian Rupiah to the United States Dollar (USD), reaching a level of Rp16,000.

Sri Mulyani mentioned that the depreciation of the Rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar can also provide benefits. Such as increased revenue from the export side due to the strengthening of the US dollar.

"On the export side, revenues will be much better with a stronger dollar exchange rate," wrote Sri Mulyani in Instagram @smindrawati, quoted on Monday, April 21, 2024."

Sri Mulyani also acknowledged that the depreciation of the Rupiah exchange rate could harm the economy in terms of import performance. Where the conversion of Rupiah to US dollars will be higher and could cause inflation.

Sri Mulyani emphasized that the government must continue to be vigilant about the impact of the weakening of the Rupiah exchange rate on the Indonesian economy. She believes that Indonesia has strong resilience in such a global situation.

Sri Mulyani also believes that the Indonesian economy will continue to grow at around 5 percent in 2024. Especially with strong exports and a trade balance that continues to maintain a surplus trend.
