Dream - PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) continues to support the progress of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially women-owned MSMEs in the WEPreneur program. WEpreneur is a program of mentoring and business capacity development for women MSMEs in Indonesia, in collaboration with SheStarts.id.

"40 Big Sista"

BCA Syariah has selected 40 female MSME participants with an age range of 20 – 35 years who will be referred to as "Big Sista" in WEprenur 2. They come from 25 cities in Indonesia.

The types of industries pursued by the Big Sistas are also diverse, including: culinary, crafts, beauty products, services, and waste management.

"In determining the selected Big Sister, BCA Syariah and Shestart.id assess the excellence in the social and environmental impact of participants' business activities as well as the prominent leadership potential. Secretary of PT Bank BCA Syariah, Nadia Amalia Sekarsari, said that MSMEs have a significant contribution to the national economic growth. Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the contribution of MSMEs to the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is 60.5 percent, and their contribution to employment absorption is 96.9 percent of the total national employment absorption in 2023.

"But on the other hand, UMKM actors become a very vulnerable segment when there is an economic turmoil. That is why one of the many reasons why BCA Syariah, together with Shestart, initiated this WEpreneur program for female UMKM actors."

BCA Syariah also provides financing. Until November 2023, the total amount of financing distributed to MSMEs reached Rp1.5 trillion.

"The distribution of financing for MSMEs has become the largest contributor in the sustainable financial portfolio with a composition of 64% of the total sustainable financing recorded at Rp2.3 trillion. "Our MSME financing has consistently been at least 20 percent of the total financing of BCA Syariah from year to year," added Nadia."
