Dream - The Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train, now named Whoosh, will operate for free starting from October 3-7, 2023. The inauguration of the first high-speed train in Indonesia was conducted by President Joko Widodo yesterday (Monday, October 2, 2023). Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, stated that the exact ticket prices for the new Whoosh Fast Train will be announced on October 16, 2023. The estimated ticket prices for the fast train, which can travel from Jakarta to Bandung in approximately 30 minutes, range between IDR 250,000-350,000.
"The President has been informed earlier, around Rp 250,000 to Rp 350,000, just wait until October 16," he said as quoted from Liputan6.com, Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Luhut added that the decision on determining the fare for Whoosh high-speed train users is in the hands of President Jokowi. This includes whether or not there will be a fare discount."
"Before commercial operations begin, the management of the high-speed train Whoosh still implements free tickets for the public. Prospective users are expected to register first. Corporate Secretary of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Eva Chairunnisa, said that the mechanism for boarding the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train remains the same by using tickets."
"ungkap Eva." translates to "revealed Eva."
Just like the previous trial period, the public who wants to try the Whoosh high-speed train needs to register through the website ayonaik.kcic.co.id. The public can register themselves to get tickets with a tariff of Rp 0. "Later, for the mechanism, we will invite you to register independently through the KCIC website. The plan is to open it today, this afternoon for the website," he said.
After entering the page, prospective passengers will be asked to fill in their name and national identification number (NIK). Next, prospective passengers can only buy tickets for Rp 0 for a maximum of 2 tickets.
The free program from Kereta Cepat Whoosh will serve 8 trips per day, with 4 trips each from Halim Station and Tegalluar Station, Bandung. "The schedule varies from morning to afternoon. So this is the schedule that is listed on the train travel chart, different from the schedule during the trial yesterday," he explained.
Regarding the free quota, Eva mentioned that it is adjusted according to the capacity of the Whoosh High-Speed Train. In one set, this first high-speed train in Indonesia is able to accommodate around 601 passengers. "The capacity is up to 601 available seats," Eva explained.
Eva explained that quota also refers to availability at the time of departure. If on a certain date it is already full, Eva urges prospective passengers to choose another departure date. "It's like buying long-distance train tickets. For example, if tickets for the 5th are sold out, then choose another date," she said.
It is known that the Whoosh High-Speed Train is integrated with transportation modes to both Halim Station and Tegalluar Station. At Halim Station, there is an option of LRT Jabodebek and Transjakarta from Cawang KRL Station. Meanwhile, at Padalarang Station, Feeder Train service will be provided. Additionally, at Tegalluar Station, Feeder Train, Damri Bus, and Shuttle from Summarecon Bandung will be available. Other access for Whoosh train passengers includes Cibiru Bridge and toll exit KM 149, Cileunyi, Bandung.
