Dream - When Indonesia is still struggling with the issue of banning TikTok Shop, technological advancements in China have already gone far ahead. Currently, the online shopping platform in that country is largely dominated by artificial intelligence (AI) powered clones that never tire of trying to sell goods for 24 hours or 7 days a week.
Same as in Indonesia, live streaming feature has become one of the most profitable marketing channels in China. The country has produced many popular influencers on platforms like Taobao and Douyin who are able to close massive transactions in just a few hours every day.
However, this remarkable achievement must be paid dearly by the business and the brand itself. The company has to sacrifice a significant amount of time and money to train great online sellers. Hiring camera crews and assistants during live broadcasts also adds to their expenses. Another equally important consideration is the use of top influencers, who certainly require rest. This is the problem that is being addressed by AI-powered clones.
Quoting Oddity Central, MIT Technology Review recently published an article about the emergence of AI clones in the Chinese online marketplace.
This finding originated from the observation that many popular channels on Taobao, Douyou, or Kuaishou remain active even late at night. These young and energetic sellers are trying to sell various kinds of goods to the audience.
However, when observed closely, these sellers show some inconsistencies in the way they speak and how their lips move. These energetic sellers are not real humans, but rather imitations created by AI.
According to Chen Dan, CEO of a company specializing in AI.
Although the top online sellers in the streaming marketing scene in China are still better than AI-powered avatars, this method will make more sense for many companies. Moreover, the use of AI technology can keep expenses controlled at the beginning and work automatically. In addition to lower cost advantages, AI humans can also work 24 hours a day and truly perform their tasks of selling goods.
Creating a basic AI clone now costs around US$1,100 (approximately Rp17.1 million) which includes one year of free technical maintenance. However, more advanced clones can actually cost several thousand dollars.
