"Dream - Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that Indonesia will receive a quota of 221 thousand pilgrims for the operational hajj of 1446 Hijriah/2025 AD. 'According to the letter I received, Indonesia will receive a quota of 221,000 hajj for 1446 H/2025 AD,' said Yaqut when attending the Tasyakuran Closing Ceremony of the Implementation of the 1445 H Hajj and the Allocation of the 1446 H Hajj Quota, Wednesday, June 19, 2024."
Yaqut claims that the organization of the 2024 hajj pilgrimage has been successful. He revealed several indicators. First, the service for the pilgrims upon arrival went smoothly. He also stated that the regular hajj quota of 213,320 pilgrims was optimally filled, with only 45 pilgrims remaining who could not be replaced because the visa process had already been closed.
"This is the smallest unabsorbed quota number in over 10 years of hajj organization," he said.
The second indicator, Yaqut assesses the pilgrim service process during the arrival phase running smoothly, both in Madinah and Makkah. Pilgrims can receive catering services, transportation, accommodation, including pilgrim protection, and guidance for worship. "Fast track services for the first time in three embarkation points, Jakarta, Solo, and Surabaya, also run smoothly," said Yaqut.
"Catering services can even be provided until the eve of the peak of Hajj. This is also the first time it is done within the normal quota, after previously being implemented in 2022," he added. The third indicator is the smooth running of the peak of Hajj process. The mitigation efforts carried out by the Hajj Service Organizers (PPIH) together with the Saudi authorities have successfully facilitated the movement of pilgrims from Arafah to Muzdalifah and Mina."
"The murur scheme or crossing in Muzdalifah has received much appreciation. Pilgrims can be dispatched earlier, at 07:37 Saudi time there is no longer anyone in Muzdalifah. This should be thankful," he said. However, he admitted that there are still some issues in Mina. For him, this condition will be part of the evaluation by the Ministry of Religious Affairs."
According to him, the Mina area has clear boundaries and is very limited. With a quota of 213,320 pilgrims, the available space is less than 0.8 square meters per person.
"Mina has always been like that. Since the quota returned to normal in 2017, the issue has always been about overcrowding. Therefore, receiving additional quota has always been a blessing as well as a challenge," he said. Yaqut added that his party will soon hold an evaluation of the organization of the 2024 Hajj. Several notes will be used as material for improvement for the upcoming Hajj season."
