Researchers have analyzed data from 23,429 men in Denmark who were diagnosed with gynecomastia between 1995 and 2021. These men were divided into two groups. First, men who suffered from idiopathic gynecomastia, the cause of which is unknown. Second, men who suffered from gynecomastia associated with pre-existing conditions.

The analysis found that compared to randomly selected men without the disease, they have a 37 percent higher risk of premature death.

This research does not discuss death due to various diseases, or whether the men were exposed to hormone-altering substances and steroids, so further research is needed on this matter. The authors hope that their findings can help focus more attention on the risks faced by men with gynecomastia.
