Dream - Regular exercise, being physically active and frequently moving, even for a short period of time, is often associated with long-term health.
Including a decrease in the mortality rate of various diseases, such as the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and many more. Not only that, according to research, if you exercise frequently, you can earn more money.
This research was published in the Journal Clinical Orthopaedics and Associated Research. The conclusion was drawn after a team of doctors from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), which is part of the National Institute of Health (NIH), investigated whether individuals who remain active will experience weight loss and earn more money as a result of their active lifestyle.
Researchers also found that currently an active lifestyle not only generates higher income but also predicts an increase in future income in one's life.
The conclusion of the research is that exercising more can make a person wealthier.
"How Can Regular Exercise Make You Rich?"
Researchers began exploring three main correlations, namely how mobility affects income, how mobility affects income over time.
Also, whether exercise can help people maintain their mobility as they age. The researchers analyzed data from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), supported by data from the largest study tracking changes over time in Americans aged 50 and older.
This comprehensive study considers various aspects of life, such as work, socioeconomic status, health, psychology, and family matters, as one ages. To assess the current impact of mobility on income, researchers examined data from over 19,000 respondents to determine how well they could perform simple tasks, such as walking a certain number of blocks, climbing a few flights of stairs, or moving around a room. Each person received a numeric score, with 5 indicating full mobility and 0 indicating difficulty in performing these tasks.
Researchers have found that for every decrease in mobility category, an individual loses an average annual income of US $3,000 compared to their more active peers.
Apart from that, those who are active are also significantly more likely to continue working longer compared to the more passive group. It seems that engaging in sports allows individuals to maintain mobility and participate in professional life for a longer period of time compared to those who are less active.
Sports is not just for health
Research indeed proves that living a healthy lifestyle directly results in high income, but it also has numerous benefits.
One of them is reducing the risk of disease treatment costs, making people more productive at work (which is one type of wealth). "We have long understood that greater mobility is an important indicator of good health. The idea that mobility can provide economic benefits further expands the evidence of the benefits of exercise and maintaining health. This is what is called an active lifestyle," said Lindsey A. Criswell, Director of NIAMS. Report by Aykaputri Amalia Rahmani/ Source: The Healthy.
