Female Entrepreneurs Are More Diligent in Paying Debts, These Are the Most Pursued Businesses

Dream - President Director of Bank OCBC NISP, Parwati Surjaudaja, revealed that women tend to be more cautious in managing debt.

Based on data presented by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the non-performing loan rate for women borrowers tends to be lower.

"It's very interesting, they shared study data showing that the non-performing loan rate for female entrepreneurs is lower compared to their total portfolio," she said in a media discussion #TAYTB Woman Warriors Bank OCBC NISP in Jakarta, Thursday, November 3, 2022.

In addition, female entrepreneurs tend to be more surviving during the pandemic with various initiatives and adaptations.

"If we look, women tend to be more cautious in borrowing. So they are more calculated," she explained.

From the business sector, Parwati conveyed that the businesses pursued by women are not solely in the 'stereotypical' realm of women such as garment and fashion and others. She revealed that there are even those involved in technology.

"Initially, we thought it was garment, fashion, but it's not. The sectors are quite evenly distributed, even including the technology sector. Not only the sectors that we think are stereotypical for women," she said.

Meanwhile, Bank OCBC reported that it has disbursed loans through the #TAYTB Women Warriors program worth IDR 3.0 trillion until the third quarter of 2022. This represents a 38.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The number of female entrepreneurs currently receiving this financing is 1,248.

"It has been proven that their non-performing loan rate is lower than the overall MSME loan rate," she said.
