Dream - Once again, the bullying case is rampant and causing the victims to undergo treatment at the hospital and deep trauma. The latest is bullying at Binus Serpong High School.
This case has dragged the names of celebrity children and public figures, who are suspected to be the perpetrators. The victim has reported it to the Police and is currently undergoing legal proceedings.
In response to this, Irma Gustiana, a family psychologist, revealed that children can often become bullies due to the high social pressure. "Teenagers can engage in acts of violence towards their peers, and one of the reasons is social pressure. Involvement in a certain social group or 'gang' can be a trigger for such actions," Irma explained.
Negligent Parents
The following text is already in English.
"By socializing, they learn to socialize, make friends, communicate, and develop their social skills. However, social interaction can also be one of the factors causing children to engage in bullying," said Irma.
There are several factors that trigger teenagers to become bullies. This is very important for parents to know. What are they?
Influence of Peers
- Teenagers who want to be accepted into a peer group may feel the need to participate in bullying. Bullying can be a way for children to show loyalty and solidarity to their peer group.
In order to look cool
- In some groups, bullying can be seen as something cool, great, and skillful. - Teenagers who want to appear cool engage in bullying to gain recognition from their friends.
"Peer Pressure"
- Sometimes teenagers are forced to engage in bullying by their friends. When they refuse to engage in bullying, they can be insulted, ostracized, avoided, or even threatened. This is certainly very frightening for teenagers.
"Lack of Empathy Ability"
- Teenagers who are not taught how to understand other people's feelings may have difficulty experiencing what the bullying victim feels. This makes it easier for them to hurt others without feeling guilty. Source: Instagram @ayankirma
