Dream - Many couples are currently intensively trying to conceive. Especially those who have been married for several years and long for offspring.
Examination and various treatments may have been done, but there is one thing that is often forgotten and underestimated, which is controlling stress. Stress can come from anywhere, whether it's from family, work, the environment, or from within oneself.
One thing for sure, everyone experiences stress, and our task is to find ways to not be 'steered' by stress, but instead try to control it. It's difficult indeed, but not impossible to do. It should be known that when the mind and emotions experience stress, the brain will send signals to the entire body that this condition is not conducive for a woman to conceive.
There are several recent studies that reveal that stress levels in women will decrease the likelihood of pregnancy.
One study mentions that women who have high levels of alpha-amylase (a stress marker enzyme) in their saliva take 29% longer compared to women with low levels of alpha-amylase. This is because the body knows that a stressful condition is not conducive for a woman to conceive.
"The body is intelligent, the body knows that stressful times are not a good time to have a baby," says Alice Domar, PhD, Executive Director of the Domar Center for Mind/Body Health. In addition, women who are stressed are also likely to be reluctant to have sexual intercourse with their partners. The feeling of stress will drive a woman to engage in unhealthy habits, such as smoking or consuming excessive caffeine."
In 1990, Domar published a small study on how anti-stress therapy can increase the chances of pregnancy. Domar's idea about this did not go smoothly. The medical community initially considered it foolish to associate stress with the functioning of the reproductive organs. Nevertheless, Domar continued and tried to prove his research. A decade later, a study was published stating that women experiencing fertility problems would conceive faster if they underwent cognitive behavioral therapy that prevents stress compared to women who did not undergo such therapy. It was only then that the medical world accepted this fact.
"\u201cNow we know that stress hormones like cortisol will disrupt the communication between the brain and ovaries, thus inhibiting ovulation,\u201d said Sarah Berga, an infertility specialist."
"Stress in a short period of time actually will not affect the fertility of Sahabat Dream. However, deep stress and sadness such as losing a job or the death of a family member will disrupt the ovulation process."
When experiencing this, 1 out of 10 women of childbearing age experience difficulty getting pregnant or miscarriage. This is caused by physical factors, namely the blockage of the fallopian tubes.
"Women struggling with infertility have the same levels of anxiety and depression as women diagnosed with cancer," said Domar. Therefore, Domar suggests undergoing several therapies such as talk therapy and yoga. Talk therapy will change someone's mindset so they no longer blame themselves. Meanwhile, yoga will maintain physical fitness."
"Many patients are angry with their bodies to the point of neglecting their bodies, therapy is one way to make them feel reconnected with their bodies," said Domar. In addition to therapy, Domar also suggests that couples communicate more intensively and listen to each other. There are also several other ways that can be done, such as physical exercise."
Physical exercise with the right amount can help reduce stress levels and improve fertility. Dream friends can engage in physical activities for 1 to 5 hours per week for walking and light jogging. Also, pay attention to body weight, avoid being overweight or underweight. Excess and lack of body weight can have negative effects on hormones and fertility. One thing that should also be noted is the daily menu consumed.
