Explained in Islamic teachings that every living creature in the world will definitely experience death. After someone dies, they will await the Day of Judgment in the grave (barzakh) realm. The grave realm is an intermediary place between life in the world and the afterlife. The fate of someone in the grave realm is greatly influenced by their deeds during their life in the world.

If someone does good deeds during their time in the world, they will be blessed with the mercy of Allah. They will also experience pleasure in the grave. On the other hand, for those who are negligent and disbelieving, they will experience a severe punishment in the grave. Regarding this matter, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reminded people about the punishment of the grave. "O people, seek refuge from the punishment of the grave, for the punishment of the grave is true." (Narrated by Ahmad)

And if the person guarding the borders dies, then the rewards of his deeds that he has done will continue to flow to him, and his sustenance will also continue to flow to him, and he will be protected from trials." From Ibn Abbas, there was a companion of the Prophet who set up a tent near a grave. He did not know that it was a grave. The companion then realized that it was someone's grave, suddenly he heard from inside the grave the recitation of Surah Al-Mulk until it was completed. The Prophet then said, "That (Surah Al-Mulk) is a protector that saves its reciter from the torment of the grave."
