Dream - For those who like to consume beef, surely they are familiar with the name "babat". This is the offal of a cow or the inner meat in the form of sheets that comes from the cow's stomach.
The inner part of beef called "babat" has a distinctive taste that is liked by many people. "Babat" is often used in various types of food, such as soups like soto and curries.
"There are also fried ones, making the beef tripe taste more crispy and savory."
"Unfortunately, the served offal in this form of sheets often causes problems. Like the story of this Chinese man who was shocked to find a cloth rag in his soup dish, which he thought was offal. The unexpected incident occurred after a man, known only as Ning, ordered two hot soup dishes for himself and five other friends."
After the waiter served the soup, Ning found that one of the soups had a strange color. The soup she ordered was slightly darker in color. Meanwhile, her friends' soups were somewhat clear.
However, Ning didn't think about it. She immediately enjoyed the soup dish with her other friends. Almost halfway through enjoying the soup, she found a piece of meat similar to tripe, which is commonly included in soupy dishes.
However, Ning felt strange because the 'babat' was too big, unlike the usual size of beef stomach dishes. Her curiosity grew when Ning tried to cut the 'babat' into smaller pieces.
When that happened, Ning only then realized that what she thought was a piece of cloth was actually a kitchen rag. Her two friends who saw the rag immediately vomited back what they had eaten.
Ning then immediately contacted the restaurant that provides tripe soup, and the restaurant owner admitted their mistake. The employee who served the tripe soup was eventually fired. The restaurant also offered compensation three times the price of the soup to Ning. However, Ning refused to accept the compensation from the restaurant owner. She wants a firm action from the government regarding the case of the cloth soup.
According to SCMP's report, the fired employee was a new 19-year-old worker. It was mentioned that the employee was experiencing a high fever while serving the tripe soup.
However, according to research published in the journal Nature, the exact timing of this event is influenced by global warming.
