Dream - Muslims are now waiting for the arrival of the Idul Adha holiday which is just around the corner. Idul Adha itself falls on the 10th of Dzulhijjah. At this moment, all Muslims around the world will perform the Id prayer and continue with the sacrifice of sacrificial animals. In addition, there are also several sunnahs on the Idul Adha holiday that can be practiced by Muslims. By doing so, God willing, there will be abundant rewards that friends of Dream will receive. So, it's a shame if it is just passed by. Moreover, the Idul Adha moment only happens once a year. The same goes for the Idul Fitri holiday in the month of Ramadan.
Well, here are the recommended Sunnah practices on the day of Eid al-Adha as advised by scholars, as quoted from lampung.nu.or.id.
The first recommended practice is to recite the takbir in mosques. This is done from sunset until the imam ascends the pulpit to deliver the sermon on the day of Eid al-Adha. It continues until the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah on the day of Tasyriq. This is explained in the book Raudlatut Thalibin: "It is recommended to recite the takbir on the night of the festival from sunset, and it is highly recommended to spend that night in worship as well."
Before leaving for the morning prayer of Eid, Dream's friends are advised to take a shower first. You can do it starting from midnight, before dawn, and most importantly, after dawn. The purpose of showering before the Eid prayer is to cleanse the body from unpleasant odor. In addition, the body also feels fresher.
"This sunnah is intended for male and female Muslims. Whether they will be going to perform the Eid prayer or not, such as women who are menstruating or in postpartum bleeding."
The next sunnah during Eid al-Adha is to use fragrances. In addition, it is also recommended to cut hair, nails, and eliminate unpleasant odors. This practice is explained in the book Al-Majmu' Syarhul Muhadzab: "It is recommended on the day of Eid to cleanse the body by cutting hair, cutting nails, eliminating unpleasant body odor, because this practice is similar to what is done on Fridays, and it is also recommended to use fragrances."
During Idul Adha, Muslims are encouraged to wear their best clothes. In this case, your clothes don't have to be new. But they should be clean, neat, and definitely pure. Some scholars also say that it is most important to wear white clothes and a turban. Regarding the dress code during Idul Adha, it has been explained in the book Raudlatut Thalibin as follows:
"It is recommended to wear the best clothes, and it is preferable to wear white clothes and also wear a headscarf. If you only have one piece of clothing, then it is okay to wear it. This rule applies to men who are going to perform the Eid prayer or not. As for women, it is sufficient for them to wear regular clothes like everyday clothes, and they should not overdo it in dressing up or wearing perfume.""
When going to perform the Id prayer, it is recommended to walk to the mosque. However, if someone is elderly, they are allowed to use a vehicle. One of the purposes of walking is to allow fellow Muslims who are going to perform the Id prayer to greet and shake hands with each other. This way, the relationship with fellow Muslims can be maintained well.
As explained in a hadith narrated by Ibn Umar, the following: "The Prophet saw set out to perform the Eid prayer on foot, and he did the same when returning from the place of the Eid prayer."
"If during Eid al-Fitr it is recommended to eat before the Eid prayer, then during Eid al-Adha it is recommended to eat after the Eid prayer. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, the food consumed was dates in odd numbers. Meanwhile, for Indonesians, they are allowed to consume other foods or adjust to their local customs. As explained in the hadith narrated by Buraidah ra as follows:"
"The Prophet saw did not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten, and on the day of Eid al-Adha until he returned home." Then, in another hadith narrated by Anas ra: "The Messenger of Allah saw did not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten an odd number of dates."
