"The Biggest Explosion Mystery in History, Sky 'Split in Two'"

Explosion equivalent to 185 times the atomic bomb of Hiroshima, 80 million trees fell, the sky seemed to split in two.

- One hundred years ago, the largest explosion in human history occurred in Tunguska, Siberia. As a result of the explosion, approximately 80 million trees fell, and eyewitnesses saw the sky split in two. The explosion that occurred on June 30, 1908, seemed to tear apart the Tunguska sky, causing trees in a 2,000 square kilometer area of the Siberian forest to fall. The explosion is believed to have been caused by a comet or asteroid that penetrated the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of 54,000 kilometers per hour, resulting in an explosion equivalent to 185 atomic bombs of Hiroshima - due to the rapid pressure and increase in heat.

However, the presumption eventually slowly fades away. Because, no trace of impact craters was found and very little evidence was discovered. So scientists remain puzzled as to what actually caused the sky to split in two. And the new study still fails to draw a conclusion.

A number of studies have been conducted to find out what exactly is happening in this uninhabited swampy area with extreme winters and short summers. Various theories have been proposed, ranging from UFOs to the supernatural. However, all these speculations do not have a strong enough scientific basis to explain the mysterious phenomena. Some scientists even suggest a collision of a black hole with Earth, but other experts quickly reject this theory.

"80 Million Trees Fallen"

On the 100th "birthday" of this event, scientists from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration [NASA], Don Yeomans, explained that the local residents believe that the event is a sign of the arrival of the God Ogdy. They are worried that the region will be cursed.

Many lives on the ground died instantly. The forest and everything in it. Eighty million trees fell to the ground, and hundreds of deer carcasses were found scattered in the area.

In the review published this year in the Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Natalia Artemieva from the Planetary Science Institute, Tucson, Arizona, explains that this event has a clear cause. According to her, the space object seems to have entered the atmosphere at a speed of 15 to 30 kilometers per second and disintegrated, exploding 10 kilometers above the Earth's surface. The only remaining evidence is cosmic dust, which makes it difficult to study.

"Witnesses"

The explosion that occurred at that time sent shockwaves all the way to England, and even people in Asia saw the sky glowing in the middle of the night, bright enough to read a newspaper outside the house. "Suddenly, the sky in the north... the sky split in two and above the forest, the entire northern sky was covered in fire," said an eyewitness who lived 65 kilometers from the center of the explosion. This witness claimed to be so shocked that they were thrown from their seat. "At that moment, there was an explosion in the sky and maybe something fell followed by a thunderous sound like a stone falling from the sky, or a gunshot. The earth shook," the witness added.

The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The explosion is believed to have been caused by a meteor explosion proposed 20 years after the incident, or precisely in 1927, by Leonid Kulik. Another estimate suggests that the celestial object that fell was in the form of ice, which evaporated before reaching the Earth."

"Mysterious"

The next investigation found the presence of a few silica and magnetite elements in the soil. These elements are usually found in nickel. This analysis strengthens the suspicion that the explosion was caused by a meteorite or asteroid falling into the Earth's atmosphere. Recent studies, including those conducted in 2013, confirmed the samples of rocks found in the surrounding area originated from a meteor with the discovery of a carbon mineral trace called lonsdaleite, which is known to form when a meteorite strikes the Earth.

However, some scientists remind us that the discovery is not the final explanation for the mysterious explosion that occurred a century ago. Moreover, meteor showers often occur. Until now, the cause of this explosion is still a mystery. But... most scientists seem to agree that the explosion was caused by a very large celestial object falling to Earth. And every June 30th is commemorated as World Asteroid Day to remember the tremendous explosion event in Tunguska.
