"Dream - A mysterious grave from the past has been found hidden within caves scattered across the northwestern highlands of Thailand. The grave takes the form of a coffin made from a sufficiently large and long piece of wood."
The translation of "Berusia 2.300 Tahun" to English is "Aged 2,300 Years".
"Quoting from IFL Science, this coffin is placed on the floor and supported by wooden poles. About 40 of these burial sites are the work of a mysterious Iron Age culture that inhabited the Mae Hong Son province in northern Thailand between 2,300 and 1,000 years ago."
The author of the study and biologist from Naresuan University Thailand, Wibhu Kutanan, said that the results of his research contribute to the emergence of a complex genetic landscape in mainland Southeast Asia after the Neolithic period.
"Mystery of the Giant Wooden Crate in the Cave"
The research is expected to provide additional insights into the history of genetics in Southeast Asia. Culturally, it is difficult to ascertain the precise significance of the very long ancient wooden coffin from Thailand.
The presence of the coffin raises questions about the reasons why people in the Iron Age went through the trouble of raising the long wooden pole and placing it on the stage. There is a speculation that the coffin has spiritual value.
"The coffin is carved from a single tree and has different carvings at the head and feet, which may reflect the beliefs of the community, the status of the deceased, the skills of the coffin maker, or indicate a family or clan burial.""
Clear research.
"Similar Tradition in Vietnam"
However, it is proven that other ancient cultures from mainland Southeast Asia have similar traditions. More than 170 boat-shaped coffins have been found from 44 different archaeological sites around Vietnam.
"Ancient Burial"
The discovery is widely associated with the Dong Son culture that existed in the region from 1000 BC to the first century AD. The individuals buried in this coffin usually have high social status.
As shown by the study, there were a large number of migrations and assimilations in Southeast Asia over 2,000 years ago. Looking at this interconnectivity, it is not surprising that not only genetic information was inherited, but also cultural information.
