The Ministry of Hellenic Culture announced that the statue was successfully found during the excavation process along the eastern side of one of the main roads in Philippi. This location became the intersection of two main roads, forming a square dominated by decorated buildings, believed to be a fountain. The architecture of the building has a unique characteristic, with identified fragments.
This statue depicts a young Hercules without clothes, holding a broken club and a lion hanging from his left hand. To enhance its beauty, the statue is adorned with a crown of grape leaves tied with a ribbon at the back, with its ends hanging over Hercules' shoulder.

After centuries, the city was abandoned following the conquest by the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century. Currently, the Municipality of Philippi is located near the ruins of the ancient city and is included in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in Kavala, Greece.
Currently, this ancient city has become the most significant archaeological site in the region. Initial excavations began in the summer of 1914 but were halted due to the impact of World War I. Between 1920 and 1937, archaeologists excavated several sites, including a Greek theater, forum, baths, and city walls. After World War II, Greek archaeologists returned to the site and successfully uncovered various public structures. Source: Greek Reporter
