"This is the Producer Owner of Okko Bread, a Packaged Food Brand that was Withdrawn from the Market by Order of BPOM."

"Dream - Recently, packaged bread producers, Aoka and Okko, have caught public attention after it was reported that they used a harmful preservative, sodium dehydroacetate, in their production. This substance is suspected to be used so that the bread lasts for months and does not mold even after the expiration date. Although reported regarding the same issue, it turns out that the bread producers Aoka and Okko come from two different companies and are not related to each other."

The translation of "Ini Pemilik Brand Roti Okko" to English is "This is the owner of the Okko Bread brand."

"Aoka bread is produced by Indonesia Bakery Family, a company with foreign investment. Meanwhile, the packaged food brand Okko bread is produced by Abadi Rasa Food, a national private company. The management of Indonesia Bakery Family is mostly composed of foreign nationals. A statement from Indonesia Bakery Family confirms that this company was established in 2017 with foreign investment status."

"Similar to Indonesia Bakery Family, the majority of Abadi Rasa Food's shares are owned by someone with the initials WQ, who was born in Fujian, China, and also serves as a director at the company. The manager of the Okko factory claims that they only take a small profit in order to sell products at a low price."

Meanwhile, Okko Bread Company claims that its products can last up to 90 days due to its hygienic production process and adherence to international standards. The Okko Bread factory statement explains that the Okko factory is maintained to be hygienic and free from bacteria. The bread packaging process is also done automatically with machines. The packaging comes from a company that has ISO standards. Good packaging keeps the bread protected from mold growth. In fact, Okko bread packaging must be able to withstand pressure of up to 80 kilograms.

The translation of "Ditarik dari Pasaran" to English is "Pulled from the Market."

"However, after laboratory tests were conducted, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) ordered the recall of the branded bread Okko from the market on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. This action was taken after the discovery of sodium diacetate as a food additive in the product. BPOM, in its official statement, stated that sodium diacetate, or dehydroacetic acid, was detected through laboratory tests on samples of bread produced by PT Abadi Rasa Food in Bandung."

"BPOM explained that they conducted an inspection of the Okko bread production facility on July 2, 2024. As a result, BPOM found that PT Abadi Rasa Food, as the producer, did not properly and consistently implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). "In response to this finding, BPOM has halted production and distribution activities," wrote BPOM in its official statement on Wednesday, July 24, 2024."

The translation of "Ditemukan Kandungan Berbahaya" to English is "Dangerous Content Found".

As a follow-up, BPOM also conducts sampling and testing in the laboratory. The test results for the Okko bread samples from the production and distribution facilities indicate the presence of Sodium Dehydroacetate that does not comply with the composition at the time of product registration. Sodium Dehydroacetate is not included in the food additives (BTP) permitted under BPOM Regulation Number 11 of 2019 concerning Food Additives.

"In response to this finding, BPOM ordered the Okko bread producer to withdraw the products from circulation, destroy them, and report the results to BPOM," said BPOM. BPOM, through its technical implementation unit (UPT) in the region, also ensures that it will oversee the withdrawal and destruction process of Okko bread products."

"Meanwhile, the lab test results for Aoka bread showed that BPOM did not find sodium dehydroacetate in its products. BPOM emphasizes that it will continue to conduct comprehensive monitoring of food products. This includes supervision before products are circulated, also known as pre-market, as well as monitoring after products are circulated or post-market, in order to ensure the safety of products consumed by the public."
