Dream - When shopping for basic necessities, sembako in Europe, we always imagine modern minimarkets or supermarkets. The buildings and facilities are similar to the many minimarkets scattered throughout Indonesia. This perception arises because most people rarely see the existence of small shops selling sembako when watching television broadcasts.
However, it turns out that not all grocery stores in Europe are in the form of modern minimarkets. +62 residents who are on vacation in Spain instead found a grocery store similar to a traditional kiosk in Indonesia.
Living in a Campervan
The appearance of a grocery store resembling an Indonesian convenience store was shared by the TikTok account @nadyakelilingeropaasli. Nadya is an Indonesian citizen who has a foreign husband and often travels around Europe with her campervan. While in Spain, she went shopping at a grocery store not far from where her campervan was parked.
However, what is surprising is that the grocery store is no different from the traditional small shop in Indonesia. "Spanish shop turns out to be quite similar to those in Indonesia," Nadya wrote in the caption of her video.
From the photo, it can be seen that this grocery store resembles a typical shop in Indonesia, with a simple concept. From the outside, its shape already resembles that of a traditional Indonesian grocery store. The items are displayed outside, with shelves containing vegetables and fruits attached to the store's walls.
"When entering, you immediately see shelves and items on display that resemble a shop in Indonesia."
The arrangement of the items for sale is also exactly the same as those in the homeland. Nadya was even surprised because the shop sells the snacks ciki-cikian, which is her favorite.
The surprise of Nadya increased when she found a cake similar to dorayaki at the stall.
In the shop, Nadya admitted that she will buy basic necessities such as cooking oil, rice, eggs.
Nadya then revealed the price of the groceries she bought. It turns out that the price is almost similar to the ones in Indonesian traditional shops.
"Surprising Rice Price"
For ciki-cikian snacks, he spent Rp25 thousand. Meanwhile, the price of one liter of cooking oil is Rp42 thousand. The price of rice turns out to be similar to that in Indonesia, which is Rp18 thousand per kilogram.
Not only that, the price of eggs is also not much different. Eggs in Europe are priced at Rp3,000 per piece. Just like in Indonesia, shops in Europe also use plastic bags as packaging for their goods.
However, what distinguishes it is the payment system. In addition to cash, warungs in Spain also accept card payments. The appearance of warungs in Spain selling groceries at similar prices to those in Indonesia has gone viral.
Netizens were surprised because they didn't expect it beforehand. Even though in terms of income, the cost of living in Spain is higher than in Indonesia. "The price of goods is similar to Indonesia, but their income is several times higher than ours." "Why is the price almost the same here, even though the income is significantly different?" "The price of rice, oil, and eggs are similar to Indo, but the butter is very cheap. So jealous."
