Dream - A man in Japan proved his perseverance when he found a torn and shapeless piece of paper money. He spent three weeks reconstructing the accidentally shredded 10,000 yen paper money that had entered the paper shredder machine.
The following is the translation of the 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any HTML tags: "The paper money has been torn into thousands of pieces. Although it is written as only 10 thousand yen for Indonesians, the value of the torn money when converted to Indonesian rupiah currency is approximately IDR 1 million."
According to Oddity Central, this paper money was torn because his father accidentally put it in an old envelope. Unfortunately, the father also forgot to put the envelope containing the yen money into the paper shredder. He then brought the bag of paper trash home and asked his child to rearrange the 10 yen bills, which were definitely mixed with other paper trash.
The following 'Bahasa' text translated to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The child named Tomo then happily accepted the challenge. Tomo started working on it in mid-February, by sorting out pieces of paper money from other pieces of paper."
"He also took another 10,000 yen banknote and placed it under a transparent sheet of plastic as a reference. However, finding out the location of each banknote piece was very difficult, and he finally managed to do it for three weeks."
On March 21, Tomo shared a photo of the paper money. There are several missing parts from the edge of the paper money and the rest is not in much better condition.
However, he relies on the fact that the Bank of Japan has a very specific policy regarding the exchange of damaged banknotes. According to him, he can still exchange them.
If more than 2/3 of the paper money is still intact, then the money can be exchanged for its full value. If the remaining amount is between 2/5 and 2/3, the paper money can be exchanged for half of its value, and if the remaining amount is less than 2/5, the paper money cannot be exchanged. Another important criterion is that all parts must come from the same paper money and the unique number on the paper money must be readable.
Tomo brought the banknotes to the Bank of Japan. Despite the lengthy process of inspecting the banknotes he had counted, he managed to exchange them.
