"Dream - The government will no longer provide free Covid-19 vaccines starting January 1, 2024. This new policy is outlined in the Minister of Health Regulation (PMK) Number HK.01.07/MENKES/2193/2023 Regarding the Provision of the Covid-19 Immunization Program. Nevertheless, certain members of the community can still receive the vaccine for free. They are vulnerable groups who have a risk of fatality and death due to Covid-19."
The translation of "Kelompok yang dapat Gratis" to English is "Groups that can get Free".
The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maxi Rein Rondonuwu said that there are two groups that can receive the Covid-19 vaccine for free.
"There will be two groups targeted for the Covid-19 immunization program and receive free Covid-19 vaccinations," he said as quoted from Merdeka.com, Friday, January 5, 2024. Maxi explained that the first group eligible for the free vaccine is those who have never received any Covid-19 vaccine at all."
"Then, the second group is those who have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine."
"Both the first group and the second group are specifically intended for the elderly, elderly with comorbidities, adults with comorbidities, (then) healthcare workers on the front lines, pregnant women, as well as adolescents aged 12 years and older and other age groups with immunocompromised conditions (people who have immune system disorders) moderate–severe," Maxi explained."
"Meanwhile, in the Circular Letter of the Director General of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices HK.02.02/E/2571/2023 regarding the Provision of Vaccines for the Implementation of Optional Covid-19 Vaccination, the Covid-19 vaccine becomes an optional immunization for the community that does not fall into the criteria for receiving free vaccines."
"The Covid-19 vaccine used for optional immunization must have an NIE from BPOM and be obtained from an official distributor appointed by the manufacturer," said the Director General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health, Rizka Andalucia."
